DEA Maltz Challenge

This annual event began in 2007 and is held in memory of USAF MSGT Michael Maltz, who was killed in action during a rescue mission in Afghanistan on March 23, 2003.

The Challenge 2013 is here! What are you waiting for??? Let's start the year off right with an Amplify Paleo Challenge!

Kick off Meeting is Thursday, January 10, at 6:30pm. Nutrition guidelines, point system, workout/strength portion and prizes will be discussed at the meeting. Before photos and measurements will be taken that night.

Crossfit Amplify Paleo Challenge January 14 – February 25, 2013

Whether you know it or not, the food you are eating every day is affecting you physically, mentally and emotionally. You are about to take on a Paleo Challenge that will change your life! For the next 6 weeks, you will eliminate all of those foods that were likely causing inflammation in your body (disrupting your sleep, giving you that lethargic feeling, causing aches and pains, affecting your skin, memory and digestion, etc.) By eating quality meat, vegetables, fruits, seeds and nuts you will be amazed at how your body transforms, while your strength and conditioning in the gym skyrockets. Congratulations to you for taking on this journey!

Amplify Post-Holiday Party 2013

Join us at 7:30pm at Mullen's in Lisle for our post-holiday get together!

The Holidays have passed, the Nutrition Challenge is on its way... so let's celebrate a new year with the Amplify Family!

Saturday Morning We will host a gym-wide, three part workout to celebrate the new year.  Join us for warm-up at 9:30am.  First part of the WOD begins at 10am sharp. This will be part of our celebration... then we'll hang out at Mullen's in Lisle from 7:30pm onward.

The following Monday, January 14 will be the start of our Paleo Challenge.  So much fun to start 2013 with Amplify!

Tyler's Fight Against Cancer

tyler's fight against cancer CrossFit E-Town is hosting this charity WOD event to help raise money to support Tyler and his family during his fight against cancer.

Tyler is a 22 month old little boy who has been diagnosed with a Wilm's Tumor. He has had surgery to remove the tumor and the kidney it was attached to. He also has a lump on one of his lungs. He has been fighting the good fight and has recently started his 6 month treatment of chemotherapy. Tyler and his family need all the help they can get. Let's team up together and raise money to help them get through this tough moment in their lives. Minimum donation of $25. 100% of all money raised goes directly to the family. Let's see who can raise the most money and who can have the best time on the WOD.

"Tyler Bear" 1213 M Row 10 Push Jerks (155/105) 35 Box Jumps (24/20) 8 Cleans (155/105)- full squat 20 Toes To Bar 22 KB Swings (32/24 kg) 3 Snatches (135/85)- Full Squat

Specific rules about movement standards and the WOD itself will be discusses before the first heat.

There will be a Rx, scaled, and master's class and the WOD will be modified for these different classes.

CrossFit Darien "Rup" Fundraiser

Brian Rupsis is the owner and head trainer of CrossFit Darien. On August 22, 2012 he was suddenly and unexpectedly diagnosed with leukemia.  A fundraiser in his name will take place on Dec 15th, 2012 with heats starting at 10am. Please register for the event in advance at crossfitdarien.wodhub.com for assigned heats or sign up on location to do the workout in a later heat. A $23 fee is required to participate in the event. All donations go to the Rupsis Family Fund, helping Brian and his family with the medical bills and other costs associated with his diagnosis and treatment.

This is our chance, as his CrossFit family, to do something for him. Prior to being diagnosed with cancer Brian weighed in at 205 pounds.  His gym will collectively do a DEADLIFT themed workout, as we try to lift him through this. The workout will be:

Friends from CrossFit Hustle have planned another road trip.  They're visiting all the way from Erlanger, Kentucky, and are hitting up 6 affiliates in 2 days.

OUR JOB: Celebrate their arrival with the Amplify Family and any area CrossFit gyms/friends. Join in on the workout late Saturday at CrossFit Amplify. We'll show them a good time and a great WOD before cleaning up and hitting up downtown Chicago to show everyone an even better time in the big city.

Drinks at Fifty/50 Downtown Chicago

Join us for just the workout, just the night out, or both!  Come for as long as you can!

THE WORKOUT:

In teams of two, complete as many reps as possible in 15 minutes: 50 Power Cleans (#95/65) 50 Shoulder to Overhead (#95/65) 50 Pull-ups 50 Wall Ball Shots (#20/16) 50 Toes to Bar 50 Burpees

Partners must Run 200 meters before each movement. Movements must be completed in order. Split reps in any way you choose, but teams can only begin their next exercise once both partners have returned from the run.

Amplify will be attending the event at CrossFit Glen Ellyn.

Come and join us as we do Amazing Grace - 30 clean and jerks for time (#135/95). The weight and workout can be modified for all ability levels. The important part is to have fun and raise money for a good cause.

The doors will open in Glen Ellyn at 9am for warms up and heats will begin at 10 am and run every 15 minutes.
